Weekly Update:

This week (Ending Friday 17th November 2017)

Maths:

We have been learning to use numberlines in different contexts and rounding numbers to the nearest 10,100 and 1000.

English: We have started to invent our own fairy tales based on the original story structure.  We have looked at the features of fairy tales and the roles of the characters.

History: We have started to learn about the 'Beaker People' and the lives of 'copper' children.

Science: We have investigated gases and made accurate predictions.

ICT: We have been joined by the head of computer science at Norton Hill school to learn touch typing.

PSHE: We have been learning about our feelings and emotions. 

PE: We have been using a range of apparatus in gymnastics and continued to develop our ball skills. 

Music: We have been continuing to rehearse our Christmas songs.

RE: We have continued to learn about religious journeys people make, focussing on Christianity and the significance of Bethlehem.

Art and DT: We have begun to practise key skills using wool and simple weaving techniques


Next week : (Ending Friday 24th November 2017)

Maths: We will be learning about place value and decimals and move on to apply these skills to solve calculations involving money.

English: We will study a newspaper report on the theme of Iron Warriors entitled the  'Clash of the Clans.  We will retell this using actions, generate questions and begin to write stories on this theme.

History: We will be learning about the life of a 'Copper Child'.

Science: We will continue to investigate solids, liquids and gases looking at heating and cooling using thermometers to discover the melting points of different materials.

ICT: We will continue to work with the head of computer sccience from Norton Hill school to develop our ICT skills.

PSHE: We will continue to learn about our feeling and emotions. 

PE: We will be continuing to develop a dance sequence to music ready for our Christmas performance.  We will also be learning to improve our balance and coordination in gymnastics using a range of apparatus.

Art & DT: We will be continuing to develop our weaving skills.  

Music: We will continue to learn our songs in the build up to Christmas.

RE: We will continue to study religious journeys focussing on the Christmas story and the adventures of Mary and Joseph.

Homework: 

Please check your child's homework book for their weekly spellings.

All homework books need to be returned to school on Mondays. We encourage our children to read every night and please remember to sign your child's reading record.
