 This week (Ending Friday 22nd September 2017)

Maths:  We have been learning about the  place value of 2, 3 and 4 digit numbers and using this knowledge to calculate

English: We have been  innovating the story of Stone Age Boy and creating our own 'portal' stories

Spelling:  Please continue to use Nessy at home. NESSY ISLAND: 5 LESSON 44   Suffix  -ly and -ty

SPaG: Our focus has been adverbs and adverbials of time and place

History: The children have been learning about what daily life was like for people during the Stone Age

ICT: We have been using the internet to research the topic

PSHE: We have been discussing why we need rules and have created a class deal

Science: 

PE: We have been  continuing to develop balance and coordination skills using different apparatus 

Art: We have created our own  cave art using authentic techniques and also creating harvest collage for our Harvest Festival celebration

Music: We are listening and reponding to Rock and Roll music and learning about the 1950's era

RE: We have begun to consider the different ways we express our identity


Next week : (Ending Friday 29th September 2017)

Maths: We  will be learning addition and subtraction using objects, jotting and formal methods

English:  We will be exploring poems around the theme of 'freedom' and creating some of our own to celebrate Poetry Day 

Spelling: Review suffix -est, -ment, -ful NESSY ISLAND: 6 LESSON 58

SPaG: Review similes and begin to explore metaphors

History: We will be learning about Stonehenge and going on our school trip REMEMBER YEAR 3 go on Wednesday 27th September and YEAR 4 go Thursday 28th September.

Science: We will be investigating how rocks are formed

ICT: Children will be begin to learn about Blogging

PSHE: We will be learning about friendship - what makes a good friend?

PE: We will be continuing to develop balance and coordination skills using different apparatus 

Art: We will be exploring stone age  jewellery and begin to design our own

Music: We will be continuing to learn about the Rock and Roll era

RE: We will be considering the beliefs of different groups and communities and how we show tolerance and understanding

Homework: 

Please check your child's homework book for their weekly spellings.

All homework books need to be returned to school on Mondays. Please see Abacus for your child's Maths homework. We encourage our children to read every night and please remember to sign your child's reading record.
